Naked DJ wanders street

20th October 2008

A staunch supporter of the People's Alliance for Democracy was found wandering naked near a local market in Chon Buri's Sattahip district last Sunday.

Montree Jitwimolprasert, 40, a well-known radio show host in Sattahip and a singer, was repeatedly shouting "I'm dying" when an emergency unit arrived at the scene. His fellow radio hosts were trying to cover the man, who is better known as "Kai Nano" to his fans, with a blanket.

Suwalee Kaekyong, Mr Montree's close friend and colleague, said the veteran DJ had developed "weird behaviour" lately and had often used improper words while hosting his radio programme.

"He told everyone that he hates the colour red. He hates red clothes," she said. Suraswadi Prasarnnil, Mr Montree's boss, said the DJ had gone out of his mind after returning from the PAD rally on Oct 7, when violent clashes between the police and PAD supporters erupted.

"He talked about a bloodbath and how his fellow protesters were hurt. He told us that he saw blood and people losing their limbs," she said.

Every time Mr Montree lost control and started to act strange, his colleagues always rushed to calm him down, but this time it was just too much for them. They could not stop him taking off his clothes and running along the road naked.

"We are so sorry for what happened to him," said one of his colleagues.

Ladyboy thief gets caught in the act

Mini-mart operators in Pattaya breathed a sigh of relief on Tuesday when a thief who had committed a string of facial foam robberies in the seaside resort town was arrested.

Chatchai Rakiti, a 20-year-old ladyboy, was nabbed in the middle of the night by staff from a Family Mart convenience store near a large massage parlour. The managers of the mini-mart called police, who arrived to find the ladyboy had been tied up by staff. A search of his handbag found 19 containers of facial foam of various brands, worth 2,077 baht.

Mr Chatchai, from Khon Kaen, said he and his transvestite friend, Patty, went to buy something at the mart, but when they realised nobody was watching them, they decided to steal the goods.

He told Patty to leave the shop first while he continued to shop for a while to avoid looking suspicious, but he couldn't fool the shopkeepers.

Mr Chatchai said he had been a sex worker in Pattaya for months, but he could not make enough money so he always stole facial foam from shops and sold them to his friends, mostly ladyboys.

Doctor arrested after shooting at boyfriend

A woman doctor shot at her boyfriend, who was also a doctor at the same hospital in Ubon Ratchathani province, after he refused to let her take care of their dog after the couple broke up.

Fortunately, the shots missed Supachoke Buddhacharoenlarp and hit his Jeep Cherokee instead. Dr Supachoke told police that he and Napawan Choppradit, 29, had been together for some time, but had decided to separate.

On Thursday, they met to settle matters, but could not agree on who would take care of the dog.

"Dr Napawan wanted to take the dog, but I refused. After arguing for a while, I got in the car, where the dog was being kept. She was angry and shot at us two times," he said. Dr Napawan has been charged with attempted murder.

Ubon to be world-class gourmet centre

Former deputy prime minister Chidchai Wannasathit is trying to put his home province, Ubon Ratchathani, on the food lovers' world map.

Pol Gen Chidchai has been carrying out a survey of local shops in the northeastern province to find products worth promoting. His target, he said, included Chinese sausages, kuay chap, a kind of noodle soup, and mu yor, a pork sausage. Many of the products were good enough to be promoted on the global market, he added.
