Transgender Arrested, Accused Of Killing Husband

Middlefield police arrested a transgender woman in connection with the death of her husband.
The body of 73-year-old James Mason was found in a pool June 2 at the Middlefield Village Apartments on East High Street.
Based on surveillance video, authorities said 40-year-old Christine Mason, a man who became a woman, held him underwater.
She was charged with reckless homicide.
Police said the department had knowledge of alleged prior abuse from Chris toward James; this led to them to open an investigation into the incident.
Chris Mason was taken into custody Friday night and transported to the Geauga County Sheriff's Office.
